iOS 14 was announced at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 22, 2020, which is said to be released soon. It is the fourteenth release of the iOS mobile Operating System developed by Apple Inc.
iOS 14’s new features include:
- New automatically organizable App Library
- Widget Gallery with multiple sizing options which can be placed on the home screen
- Picture-in-picture
- App clips which are lightweight portions of an app having less than10MB for checking apps downloading
- New translating app supporting 11 languages
- iMessage services with new Memojis
- QR payments
- Voice memos
Special features include the compatibility of iOS with all iPhones from iPhone 6 and iPod 7th gen and privacy enhancements where users will encounter more intelligent notifications for when the camera, microphone, or clipboard is accessed.
Siri is now to show up as a small icon at the bottom of the screen and to be more conversional. Offline iOS uses on-device ML to process translation requests, which is more private and secure.
The home screen offers warmer tone in the mornings and evenings and a cooler tone throughout the day. The number one weather app on the App Store, Dark Sky, was acquired by Apple. Apple belongs to a “Car Connectivity Consortium” and iOS 14 will offer developers some new features for controlling and unlocking their cars which is called the “CarKey”.
Additional features include 4k HDR Youtube videos, AirPlay 4k videos, Yelp app for Maps and websites, Find My app for third-party apps, Facetime eye correction, and Emoji search in keyboard.
